The series began in 1987 and has since produced over 15 mainline titles and numerous spin-offs, remakes, and adaptations. There are also a few puzzles you will need to solve, and you can already sense that some of the ideas for their future titles (Left 4 Dead and Portal) gained inspiration from this game. Like It Takes Two, only one person needs to buy the game, and you can use Steam’s Remote Play Together feature to play with someone else. The game can only be played in co-op mode, so there is no reason to get this title without asking someone if they want to play too.
Whether you want to play it sneaky with Naoe, or bust through doors with Yasuke, there’s combat here that caters to a wide variety of play styles. Many of the series’ hallmarks, like Synchronization points, have been retooled, while others, like social stealth and Leaps of Faith are left largely untouched. This’ll no doubt please longtime fans, while giving new ones a great place to jump in.
Unfortunately, God of War is exclusive to the PlayStation 4, so not everyone has access to it, but it is undoubtedly one of the best games we’ve ever played and one of the best stories we’ve seen. Even the ending, which we won’t spoil, offers tremendous scope for player choice, forcing you to put your moral code on the line as you determine the fate of the world.
